So here we are, all settled, if you want to call it that, into the Lion's Manor.
The renos have somewhat taken a break and we have sort of started to enjoy the summer....now that it is over and dark by 8!!
The kids are getting used to the Lions manor, being able to find the things they need to get through the day when mom is sleeping in...etc....
Here are a few things that I consider being "settled" in a new home:
1. you know exactly how much time is needed to drive to school to get the kids there on time
2. know exactly where the nail clipper is
3. read the organizing magazines and wish you could follow through with actually doing some organizing
4. know that the loud "thud" on the roof is just another pine cone falling
5. know exactly, precisely how to get through your house in pitch black darkness.
Which leads me to my story........and life lesson:
I have been hobbling around like an imbecile for the last few weeks due to a very bad sprained foot. So that put me behind in my running schedule, lead me to gain lost weight all back again, and was totally exhausted trying to man the house, a husband and 3 kids.
One night Aiden woke up wanting the ever so famous "chocolate milk" at 2 in the morning. As my memory serves me, he had been sleeping since 6 that evening, so I guess if I would wake up, I would be thirsty too from such a long sleep (no dinner, no drink)
Has anyone out there ever made chocolate milk at 2 AM??? So there I go, start to walk down the stairs and OOOOOOPPPPSS.......missed those last few steps. I thought I had counted right...I KNEW how many steps there were, like come on, we've been here for almost 2 months already.
I fell forward, hit the wall and screamed a silent scream in my head, MAN, THAT'S GONNA HURT TOMORROW!!!
When I finally got myself together, I made it to our fridge, standing in my undies, making chocolate milk............
Moral of the story, turn on a light (and get some blinds in the kitchen too!) Nobody needs to see that at 2 AM.
