Run run as fast as you can......

So summer is officially over and I am now into my new routine...school, day care, Kindergarten, preschool and somewhere in between training for the 1/2 marathon for October. Once and a while Jay and I say hi to each other in the hallway too!!
So this 1/2 marathon thing......some say I am crazy, others encourage me each step of the way (knee aches, hip aches, blisters and eventually so I am told by a doc in our running group, I will lose some of my toe nails too)
Ugh...will it be worth it??? YES YES YES!!! I am so excited about this because I have never....I repeat NEVER had an athletic bone in my body and here I am, running an average of 12-15KM a week IN ONE DAY!!!
I am taken back to Jun of 2007 when I came across the finish line at the Kelowna Women's Run, crying my eyes out because I had just finished a 5K!!! WOW, I'll say it again, here I am peeps, EAT MY DUST!!!
My friend Dawn and I had the privilege and honour of working at the Penticton Ironman a few weeks ago. It was the most amazing thing I had ever watched (except for Sarah's birth video..that's a whole other blog post ha ha). The women and men that crossed that finish line had just done the biggest accomplishment of their lives and here we were catching their sweaty, tired, achy bodies at the finish line. WOW!! I still remember the cop from Winnipeg we caught and Dawn left to get him a recovery drink and she left me all alone with him....I had to start a conversation with him as we waited in line for his "mugshot". My guess it that he hadn't talked to anyone all day, it's a really lonely day for the Ironmen!! All I could think of was the rolls of paper he had in his had. They looked like colored paper with smeared marker all over them. So I asked him what they were, he said his 3 year old twin daughters met him half way on his run and handed him some pictures they colored with encouraging words. I think that was what he was most proud of, his own personal cheering section.
So here is my plea, if anyone would like to come out and be my cheering section and yell encouraging words at me, hand me some gatorade, water or a couple of hundred dollar bills, come out at 8AM in Kelowna!! I want to see you!!
