Did someone forget to give me the memo???

So here I am, around 4:15, well rested and attempting to make a new recipe we talked about at "Sole Sisters" this morning. The house is our usual chaos, the boys running around with Lego ships, Sarah still in her diaper from her nap, the TV blaring with Discovery Kids on, the dog going stir crazy from the noise, etc.... So then it happens, my worst fear....the doorbell rings!! I am not so afraid of the door bell but what HAPPENS when I don't "plan" on the bell ringing......UNEXPECTED COMPANY!! Somehow I want the world to know that I have my life in order and my house always looks like a show home so I need warning. So if I know someone is coming, it's time for the 10 second tidy!! (more like the 2 hour tidy) I can't let people know that deep down in the depths of the Friesen household that I don't really live like that!

Anyway, back to the story. I am in the kitchen and Keegan answers the door. I hear a ladies voice saying, "I think I am at the wrong place"!! So I quickly run to see what is happening, oblivious that I am full of flour and have a wet tea towel on my shoulder!!
Well, there they were, my unexpected guests, all the way from Brandon, Manitoba!! They had all of their luggage on my doorstep and tired from their travels and ready for a warm, home-cooked Okanagan meal. Little did they know, the people that they were attempting to visit hadn't lived in this house for years. She failed to update her address book. So me always wanting to please everyone, got a NEW phonebook and looked up the name of the people they wanted to visit. She called them using our phone and had a great laugh about the whole thing. She got the new address and they were on their way.
In the end, I begged them to stay, I said that I was sure they would enjoy being with my kids for a few days. I even said I would make them supper and then they could have the kids for the evening so Jay & I could go on a date! They didn't take me up on my offer but hey, I tried!!

So, for a split second in my day I thought I didn't read the memo. Company, now?? I haven't started my B&B yet!!

Another note for the record.........Melanie does not do well with Unexpected company. Does anyone???

Mel - is this for real???? That looks almost like Grandma & Peter, my Tante Neta & Tante Lena. (Except they are all smiling!!! Ha! Ha!)One of them looks like Lorraine Mantey's mom from the "Lion's Manor" but I think she passed away already!!!(The one standing in the bus.) Where did you take the picture? Did you get their names? Did those other people "know" they were coming????

Note to your Mom-the Mantleys have both passed. They were my Grandma Dyck's neighbours on Park. YOu didn't forget about my Grandma Dyck did you!!

To Ang, So the picture is just a picture. Not the ones that really came to Mel's door. Sure fooled me. No - I did not forget about your Grandma Dyck. When we were first married we lived on Park Street and I think we lived right beside her!
